The Salisbury Swing Band, lead by Dr. Steve Etters, who is also Director of Bands and Music Education at Catawba College in Salisbury, is an 18-member dance band composed of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, piano, guitar, bass, drums and vocalists. The band's extensive repertoire ranges from the big band styles of the 30's, 40's, and 50's to the popular dance styles of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Unlike most big bands, this is not a pick-up band, but a polished, experienced group of handpicked musicians who have played together for some time. Their members have had the pleasure of performing with the likes of Johnny Cash, Dave Loggins, The Statler Brothers, Van Cliburn and Percy Sledge, among others. This is their second appearance with us, and the crown demanded a return engagement!

Late Night DJs
Laura Lackey (Raleigh, NC)
Laura’s love affair with Jazz & Blues has been developing for quite some time now. Ever since she began DJing local house parties, she has committed herself to the art and is now a regular DJ at Dance Blues Friday, Hot Club and Triangle Swing Dance Society in Durham, NC. You may also remember her from Holy City Blues Exchange in Charleston (returning again this year), Cheap Thrills Charlotte and Big Ten in Greensboro, NC. Ultimately, when it comes to DJing, she prides herself on providing a variety of styles and eras in each of her sets, and loves to choose music that dancers will enjoy & interact with, making each song count.
Some of Laura’s favorite artists: Artie Shaw, Big Mama Thornton, Koko Taylor, Roy Eldridge, James Cotton, Anita O'Day, Nina Simone, Duke Ellington, and Sidney Bechet.
JEFF "Mojo" MILLER (VA beach, VA)
Originally from Chicago, and now hailing from Virginia Beach, Jeff has been dancing, DJing, teaching, and playing at Swing and Blues events all across the nation for over a decade spreading the love of dance
from NYC to Vegas, Chicago to Florida. With Chicago Blues in his heart and a blues harp in his pocket, it was no surprise he easily got hooked into Blues Dance after his first exchange's late night blues
room and it all went to Hell after that.
His love affair with the Blues landed him a spot with the Natchel' Blues Network Blues Society to help Keeping the Blues Alive in his town with organizing local blues concerts and events. If he is not
dancing, he is either by organizing, djing, or playing at Blues events across the country.
As an avid blues harmonica player and lack of sleep, he continues to grow his library with traditional and new Blues artists to keep your butt on the dance floor, and not in the chairs. Get ready for his curveball songs that make you say "What the hell is this? But hey, let's dance!"
